John Krouskoff has worked with school districts for over 25 years, creating and implementing strategies for equitable access to technology, cloud migration, remote learning, and process automation. His efforts have received national recognition and involve partnerships with technology organizations, academic institutions, and non-profit entities. As a result, countless students and teachers engage in learning experiences that would otherwise be impossible. Vital to this success is ongoing and sustained professional development and training, something Krouskoff learned to value during his years as a high school English teacher.

From 2006 through 2017, Krouskoff blogged regularly, and he has left posts available as they represent a running record of a very active decade for edtech.

Strategic Planning and Professional Development

Regional Leadership

After working with Google and a small team of teachers and students in the development of Google Classroom, Krouskoff chose to serve as a regional leader and support the ongoing shifts from site-based resources to those available anytime and anywhere. This included developing equitable 1:1 and BYOD learning environments, often including Chromebooks and cellular hotspots. He co-founded, marketed, and managed the LHRIC Emerging Technologies Service in New York’s Hudson Valley. Starting with two small pilot school districts, Bronxville and Tuckahoe, the service quickly expanded to eleven districts. To support this growth, Krouskoff hired certified and nationally recognized experts to support these districts in the complex shifts they embraced. The work had a broad impact, some of which are shared in the examples and excerpts below.

COLLABORATION AND PILOT PROGRAMS WITH GOOGLE EDUCATION

Starting in 2009, Krouskoff began working closely with Google on collaborations that are recognized internationally and played an essential role in reshaping the edtech landscape. Examples include piloting CR-48 devices (which later became Chromebooks) with students and teachers and, most notably, serving as the primary school district involved in developing, piloting, launching, and promoting Google Classroom.

Clarkstown Central School District set-out to make a curriculum portal that would connect faculty across all the buildings, campuses, and departments of the district. With Google Sites, Google Docs, and Google Calendar, they built a a collaborative curriculum for teachers
